Program Function
The program function allows you to store your favorite tracks from any disc in the player's memory. To program a sequence of tracks, the C 538 must be in STOP mode (Press the [⏹] STOP button on the CD8 remote to enter STOP mode).
Programming Tracks
The following procedure applies to both CD tracks and MP3/WMA files,
(Note: Using CD tracks as a reference in this procedure):
- Start Programming: Press the [PROGRAM] button on the remote control. The display will show “PRO1- 01” (or “PRO1- 001” for MP3/WMA files), indicating the first program number and the default track.
- Select Track: Use the number buttons (⏮/⏭ or FILE ▲/▼) on the remote control to enter the track number you want to program. For example, press “5” to select track number 5.
- Confirm Track: Press [PROGRAM] again to save track number 5 as the first programmed track. The display will change to “PRO2- 05.”
- Add More Tracks: For the second program number, repeat the process. For example, press “9” and then [PROGRAM] to save track number 9 as the second programmed track. The display will update to “PRO3- 09.”
- Continue Programming: Repeat steps 2 to 4 until all desired tracks are entered. You can program up to 20 CD tracks or 65 MP3/WMA files. If you exceed this limit, “FULL” will be displayed.
- Start Playback: Press [⏵] to begin program playback.
Notes
- Clear Programmed Tracks: Press [DELETE] at any time to clear the programmed tracks and return to normal playback mode. “PROGCLEAR” will briefly appear on the front panel display (VFD).
- Stop Key: Pressing the [STOP] key twice during program playback will delete the entire program list.
Program Playback
- Start Program Play: Press [⏵] PLAY button while in “PROGRAM” mode to play the stored program. During Program Play, the SKIP [⏮/⏭] buttons will only access tracks in the program list. “PROGRAM” will intermittently appear on the front panel display (VFD).
- Partial Playback: To play only a portion of the stored program, press [⏮ SKIP ⏭] to skip over the tracks you don’t want to hear.
Stop or Delete Program
- Stop Program Playback: Press [⏹] STOP button once to end Program Play. The track list remains in memory, and you can press the [⏵] PLAY button to restart the program.

Clear Program Memory:
- Press the [⏹] STOP button twice during program playback.
- Press the [⏏] OPEN button to open the disc tray.
- Set the unit to standby mode.
