The HTR 8's key illumination can be set to remain lit for 0-9 seconds. The default value is 2 seconds.
Notes:
- Key illumination is activated when you press any HTR 8 key.
- If the HTR 8 senses movement, key illumination is activated without pressing a key. Shaking the HTR 8 also activates key illumination.
- Key illumination is the biggest drain on the HTR 8’s batteries. Setting a short key illumination timeout will significantly extend battery life; turning it off completely (set to 0 seconds) will extend it even further.
Adjust Illumination Timeout
Note: The Learn LED is located between the ON and OFF buttons.
To adjust the illumination timeout:
- Enter Illumination Setting Mode: Simultaneously press and hold for 3 seconds both the HTR 8’s [DISP] key and one of the digit keys [0-9]. The digit you press corresponds to the desired timeout duration in seconds.
- Confirmation: The Learn LED will flash twice to confirm the new setting.
Note: Setting the illumination timeout to zero will prevent the illumination from turning on at all.
