The SR9 remote control handset manages the key functions of the C 658, as well as other NAD stereo receivers, integrated amplifiers, and preamplifiers.
It includes additional controls for remotely operating NAD CD players, AM/FM tuners, and dedicated AM/FM/DAB tuners.
The SR9 remote works up to a distance of 23ft (7m). For maximum operating life, alkaline batteries are recommended. Insert two AA batteries into the compartment at the rear of the remote control handset. When replacing the batteries, ensure they are oriented correctly as indicated in the battery compartment.
NOTE: The remote control handset supplied with the C 658 is a universal NAD type, designed to operate various NAD models. Some buttons are only applicable to specific NAD models.
To initiate the following C 658 remote control commands, select AMP from the DEVICE SELECTOR buttons:
1 |
POWER ON/OFF |
The SR9 remote has separate ON and OFF buttons. Press the ON button to switch the unit from Standby to operating mode. Press the OFF button to switch the unit to Standby mode. |
2 |
DEVICE SELECTOR |
A Device Selector button determines which component the SR9 will control; it does not perform any function on the C658. Press the desired Device Selector button to access a “page” of commands relevant to the selected device. Once a Device is selected, you can press the corresponding SR9 control buttons for that device. |
3 |
INPUT SELECTORS*a |
Refer to the labels printed on the remote control faceplate and their respective assigned buttons to use these functions. Set the DEVICE SELECTOR to “AMP” to access these buttons. |
4 |
NUMERIC KEYS |
The numeric keys allow direct input of tracks for CD players and direct channel/preset access for tuners and receivers. |
5 |
SLEEP |
This button switches off specific NAD Receiver or Tuner models after a preset number of minutes. *This control does not apply to the C 658. |
6 |
MUTE |
Press the MUTE button to temporarily switch off the sound to the speakers and headphones. MUTE mode is indicated by the Standby LED flashing for NAD Integrated Amplifiers or “Mute” shown in the VFD(display) of NAD Receivers. For the C658, “Mute” is shown on the display. Press MUTE again to restore sound. Adjusting the volume via the SR9 or the front panel volume knob will automatically release the mute function. |
7 |
SOURCE ⏪/⏩ |
Toggle through the source input selections. If optional MDC modules are installed, the source selections will include those incorporated in the modules. |
8 |
DIM |
Reduce, turn off, or restore display brightness. Depending on the NAD model, the front panel display brightness will vary when you toggle this button. For the C 658, toggle to adjust the display brightness to brighter, normal, or dimmer. |
9 |
VOL [▲/▼] |
Press the [▲/▼] button to increase or decrease the volume level. Release the button when the desired level is reached. For NAD Receivers, the VFD (display) will show “Volume Up” or “Volume Down” while pressing the SR9’s VOL [▲/▼]. For the C 658, pressing VOL [▲/▼] will correspondingly increase or decrease the dB level shown on display. |
10 |
SPK A, SPK B |
These buttons engage or disengage the speakers connected to the Speakers A and Speakers B terminals, respectively. Toggle SPK A to switch on or off the speakers connected to the Speaker A terminals. Toggle SPK B to switch on or off the speakers connected to the Speaker B terminals. *This control does not apply to the C 658. |
11 |
TONE DFT |
Press this button to enable or disable the tone controls. |
*a IMPORTANT:
- There are up to 9 sources with discrete IR codes, mapped to the SR 9 input selector buttons 1 – 9.
-
The USB and Bluetooth (BT) sources on the C 658 (when available or connected) can only be accessed via the BluOS Controller App. Because the USB and BT sources are not directly accessible using the USB and BT buttons on the SR 9 remote control, the USB source, originally assigned to the "8/USB" button, is now assigned to the BluOS source. Therefore, the input selector "8/USB" in AMP mode will now correspond to the BluOS source, while "9/BT" will be Unassigned. Refer to the examples below for clarification:
- If the optional MDC HDM 2 module is installed, the unassigned input selector "9/BT" button will be reassigned to the "HDMI 1" source (refer to the “MDC HDM 2 Installed” column below).
- In the "MDC HDM 2 Installed with some sources disabled" column below, Optical 2 (OPT 2) and Phono sources are disabled, allowing HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and HDMI 3 sources to be assigned and directly selectable via the SR 9 remote control.
- With Optical 2 (OPT 2) and Phono sources disabled, the button allocations will adjust to display only the enabled sources. COAX 1 will move up to the "2/OPT 2" position, COAX 2 will shift to "3/COAX 1", LINE 1 will move to "4/COAX 2", and so on.
- You can choose which sources to disable so that the desired sources from the installed MDC modules can be allocated and selectable from the SR 9 remote control.
