How to Restore NAD C368 and C388 Displays

To restore your NAD C368 or C388 from a black front panel display, please follow the steps below:

  1. For C368: Download C368-MCU-1.75-VFD-1.22-BT-1.26-2-1 and unzip it to a new folder on your computer.
    For C388: Download C388-MCU-1.75-VFD-1.22-BT-1.26-2 and unzip it to a new folder on your computer.
  2. Switch OFF the respective amplifier from the rear panel and remove ALL MDC cards installed.
  3. Copy ONLY the NAD_C368.bin or NAD_C388.bin file onto a FAT32 formatted USB Stick and then use the “Eject” before removing the USB stick from the computer.
  4. Insert the USB stick into the rear USB port, beneath the antenna.
  5. Switch ON the rear panel switch and wait approximately 15 seconds until the orange LED appears.
  6. Switch OFF the rear panel switch, remove the USB Stick, and switch the amplifier back ON.
  7. The orange LED should appear on the front standby button. Press this button to power ON the amplifier. 

    If the amplifier powers on and the VFD screen appears, power OFF the amplifier by the rear panel and reinstall any MDC cards. 

    If the VFD screen is still not appearing, proceed to step 8.  
     
  8. Switch OFF the amplifier from the rear panel and remove ALL MDC cards.
  9. Copy ONLY the VFD_C368.bin or VFD_C388.bin file onto a FAT32 formatted USB Stick and then use the “Eject” before removing the USB stick from the computer.
  10. Insert the USB stick into the rear USB port, beneath the antenna.
  11. Press and hold the “Enter” button inside the navigation dial and then switch ON the rear panel power.
  12. When the standby LED becomes orange press the “standby” button for 3 seconds, then release.
  13. When the standby button LED changes to red, after 3 seconds release the “Enter” button. The VFD upgrade process should start in 8 seconds.
  14. When the process is complete the VFD screen will go blank.
  15. Power OFF the rear switch and remove the USB stick.
  16. Power ON the rear switch and then press the “Standby” button. The VFD screen should appear correctly.    

    If the amplifier powers ON and the VFD screen appears Power OFF by the rear panel and reinstall any MDC cards.
